Huan Yang
Consulting & ResearchDr. Huan Yang is a mathematical modeler, who is passionate about computational modeling, data analysis, and machine learning for life-science innovation. Before joining esqLABS, Huan has applied systems modeling to tackle problems in pharmacology/toxicology, neuroscience, and psychology.
His PhD research at the University of Twente (2011-2015) focused on computational modeling of nociceptive systems with human-subject perception data. He developed and applied system identification and parameter estimation technique to recover neurophysiological parameters, leading to a mechanistic diagnosis of peripheral and central neuronal subsystems underlying the development of chronic pain. In 2016, he started his postdoc at the LACDR of Leiden University. He developed quantitative systems approaches to gain insights into how biological systems (ranging from in-vitro PK to signaling pathways) respond to chemical/drug exposure.
Towards predictive toxicology, his modeling work incorporated various types of data from high-content microscopy imaging, sequencing, and mass spectrometry generated by academic and industrial collaborators. These mathematical models also quantitatively characterized several key events and their relationship in AOPs for the next generation risk assessment. Currently, he is also a visiting researcher at Leiden University.
